Cleaning a Glass Table

- Lint-free cleaning cloths or newspaper
- Cleaning liquid of your choice (You can make your own solution by combining one-part vinegar with two-parts water in a spray bottle.)
- Liquid dish detergent
- Bar Keepers Friend
Without Framework
If your table contains no framework around the edges of the glass, you can choose any cleaning liquid you prefer. The best glass cleaners are alcohol-based, so read the ingredients before making a selection. If you don’t have an alcohol-based cleaner, isopropyl alcohol will do the trick.
Start by soaking any stubborn substances with hot water and liquid dish detergent. After a few minutes, use a gentle cloth to scrape off the residue.
Next, spray your glass cleaner on the table. To avoid leaving dust or streaks behind, use a soft, lint-free cloth or a sheet of newspaper. Refrain from using paper towels as they tend to create a lot of lint that you’ll have to remove.
Metal Framework
To shine your glass and polish the metal framework simultaneously, you’ll need a soft cleaner that removes tarnish, such as Bar Keepers Friend. Begin by wetting down the table surface with a damp cloth. Next, sprinkle the Bar Keepers Friend powder over the wet surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. After you wash the solution off, wipe the glass with a dry cloth or newspaper and watch your surfaces sparkle.
Wood Framework
To clean your glass table containing a wood framework, avoid using an alcohol-based cleaner; instead, vinegar is your friend. Mix one-part vinegar with two-parts water and spray the mixture all over the surface. Most liquids are an enemy of wood, so don’t allow the cleaner to soak for more than a minute or two. Afterward, wipe and shine the table with a soft cloth or newspaper.
Deep Cleaning a Cloudy Glass Table Top
If your table has acquired a cloudy look over time, it can take deeper cleaning to reverse these effects. Start by mixing 1-cup of water, 1-cup of isopropyl alcohol, and 1-tablespoon of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Wipe your table as before, but exercise caution around the framework. This mixture will help remove the film and restore shine.
